On Board a containervessel there was an severe loss of fuel oil found. After inspection by the ships crew there was a leakage found in th pipeduct which was located in the double bottom. The whole pipe duct was run full with heavy fuel oil, and no access was possible. In cooperation with van Winden Cleaning we managed to pump out the oil and clean the pipe duct. In the pipeduct we found 6 fuel lines which were all heavily corroded and needed to be replaced over a lenght of 40 m. Two of our technicians went in and cut out pipe by pipe and replaced them for new ones. The manhole to gain access to the pipe duct was a standerd 600 x 400 type and the height of the pipeduct was only 750 mm Therefore it was not possible to put pipes in with a lenght more than 2700 mm, so many welds had to be made in the pipeduct. This repair was performed during several cargo operations and pipe after pipe were renewed, but the repairs never interfered with the cargo operations and there was never a delay on ships scedule because of our work.
