Hatch cover and hull damage repair
During cargo operations on board a special cargo vessel, one off the hatch covers was damaged badly and we were invited to take care of the repair. The damaged that needed to be repaired was renewal 1500 x 10000 mm of the top plate of the hatch cover including the girders underneath. We took the hatch cover from the ship and put in on the quay on specials blocks for maximum access. The top plate was cut out with our on site cutting machine and the girders by hand. The new girders and top plate were tacked in and welded by our certified welders. This repair was performed under supervision of the Germanische Lloyd and was done very well according them. At the same time we were performing this repair, the ships superintendent asked us to have a look at a hull damage portside forward and portside aft. After putting fenders between the quay and the ship we started to weld angle bars to the hull to build a scaffolding . We cut out 2700 x 2100 mm of steel plate including girders and replaced them with new ones. This job was also supervised by the Germanische Lloyd and we performed a vacuum test on the welds of the hull plate. On the aft hull damage we had to renew new girders and could leave the plate intact. This repair is done in a off hire period for 7 days and we completed these repairs within this period.
